About Dr Yi-Lin (James) Yang
Dr Yi-Lin (James) Yang graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from James Cook University in 2019. Throughout his degree he had the pleasure of working across Townsville, Barcaldine and Darwin, and also spent time in Barunga in the Northern Territory providing care to Indigenous Australian communities.
James is currently completing his Masters of Aesthetic Dentistry (MSc Aes Dent) at King's College London, a rigorous, evidence-based programme that deepens his understanding of treatment planning and allows him to provide care with greater confidence and precision. His clinical interests include aesthetic dentistry, particularly composite restorations, veneers and crowns, as well as wisdom teeth removals.
For James, there is an important distinction between aesthetic and cosmetic dentistry. Where cosmetic treatment focuses primarily on appearance, aesthetic dentistry takes a broader view, creating results that not only look great but are functional and long-lasting. This means considering the whole picture: facial structure, smile line, musculature and gum appearance, alongside tooth shape, colour and positioning.
James was born in Brisbane but grew up on a prawn farm in Mission Beach, Queensland. His family previously owned prawn farms in Mission Beach QLD, Proserpine QLD and Yamba NSW.
Outside of dentistry
Outside of dentistry, James enjoys archery, assembling mechanical keyboards, and exploring new food spots. He is a self-confessed foodie who is always on the lookout for his next great meal.
